Clash of Gods & Asuras
Among the great seven sages, Sage Kashyap married two sisters, Aditi and Diti, who were opposites in nature. Aditi, compassionate and righteous, gave birth to the Devs, while Diti, ambitious and stubborn, bore the Asuras. As their children inherited their mothers’ traits, they grew into two opposing forces—Devs, disciplined and virtuous, and Asuras, hardworking but unbound by rules. Their conflicting ideologies made coexistence impossible, threatening Brahma’s creation. To restore harmony, Brahma assigned them separate realms—the Devs ruled the heavens, basking in light and worship, while the Asuras, drawn to material wealth, were given the underworld, where they lacked respect but possessed great power.
However, balance never lasts forever. Among the Asuras rose Tadkasur, who, fueled by rejection and humiliation, performed intense penance to grow stronger. His relentless effort forced existence itself to acknowledge him, and Brahma appeared to grant his wish. Knowing Shiva had renounced worldly attachments, Tadkasur cleverly sought a boon that made him nearly invincible—he could only be slain by Shiva’s son. With Brahma’s blessing, he amassed his army and waged war against the Devs. Overwhelmed, the gods were defeated, and the Asuras seized heaven, disrupting the cosmic order. The balance of nature had been overturned, and with the Devs in exile, chaos reigned.
